Materials Characterization Laboratory
Areas of activity
- Measurement tasks for the characterization of all types of materials and components
- Service measurements (diffractometry, thermal analysis) and, after itroduction, independent measurements (Raman, µ-CT)
- Support with the evaluation and interpretation of the data obtained, provided by laboratory staff
- The equipment is available to staff and students alike
Key areas
- Material characterisation using diffraction methods (phase, stress and texture analysis)
- Vibrational spectroscopy: combination of optical microscopy and Raman
- Thermal analysis of materials (decomposition, phase transformations, thermal expansion behaviour)
- Radiographic testing and computed tomography
